But a close second would have to be Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go’s. And heck, she’s offering to marry gay folks. Wiedlin, in the time since The Vacation Song and Our Lips Are Sealed (not to mention an acting career that took her from television show Frasier to critically-acclaimed movie Firecracker), has become an ordained minister, otherwise known as Sister Go-Go, marrying straight and gay couples throughout the country. And Sister Go-Go is pleased as punch to perform your same-sex nuptials. Especially in the wake of last week’s federal court ruling declaring Proposition 8 unconstitutional. “Anyone who still feels justified denying rights to other humans, I need to say they’re on the wrong side of this argument and history will prove it,” Wiedlin told Spinner Canada. “To me, it’s like someone saying that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote. The whole idea that someone should not be able to marry who they love based on their gender and their preference is ridiculous.” Wiedlin notes on her web site that in honor of the Prop 8 ruling, there will be discounts galore for same-sex couples interested in tying the knot with Sister Go-Go as the officiant. “No matter what your orientation, if you and your beloved are going to tie the knot, I would be honored to be part of your happy day!” Wiedlin declares. So how about it: you have one 1980s rock star that can perform your wedding. Who is it? Photo credit: janewiedlin.com
If you had to pick a favorite 1980s musician to perform your same-sex wedding, who would it be? For me, it’s a no-brainer. Bonnie Tyler. That hair … that make-up. That marching down the aisle while she belts out Holding Out For a Hero. (Not that I’ve spent a substantial amount of time picturing the perfect 1980s wedding…)
by James Hipps Everybody Loves Elisabeth Hasselbeck ofThe View. You either love her because your an ultra conservative who agrees with her, or you’re a conservative man who thinks she’s hot, or your a man who thinks she’s hot, or you love her because it gives you someone on the show to hate. Let’s face it, you can’t hate Whoopi unless you’re a racist, you gotta love Joy, unless you’re a conservative and/or racist against the Jewish community and Sherri Shepherd…well, she’s just doesn’t appear bright enough to hate. But one thing that may surprise you about the show’s blond bombshell, as it certainly surprised the hell out of me, she supports gay marriage. According to an interview posted on Fancast: I actually support gay marriage. That may be an opinion that would surprise people. I think the gay marriage thing would definitely surprise people. I mean, for some people, it will surprise them to the point that they won’t want to hear it. “No, that can’t be, I really want to have this sort of idea of her in my head,” so I sort of rain on their parade there.
