  • BIOPIC OF “DISCO QUEEN” SYLVESTER TO STAR TON3X @BSLADE™!!

Brian Slade (aka @BSlade™) is set to resurrect disco legend Sylvester in the upcoming biopic of the singers life based upon the book “The Fabulous Sylvester: The Legend, the Music, the Seventies in San Francisco” (Joshua Gamson).

On the eve of releasing his much anticipated CD mixtape, A Brilliant Catastrophe, recording artist activist @BSlade ™ released a “screen test” video of himself as Sylvester singing the Brian Slade song “Get Over You” from his Dawn O’ The Unicorns CD mixtape.  He then coupled that with the release of the @BSlade™ ten minute version of the Sylvester classic “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real),” which immediately created a buzz across the internet.

See/hear what the buzz is all about! Go to www.bslade.bandcamp.com and get your FREE download of A Brilliant Catastrophe which features the Sylvester remake.  Then log on to twitter and tell @BSlade™ what you think of his music by sending a #ABCREVIEWS.

***PERSONAL NOTE: ABC is down-right good music. Mixing R&B, Gospel, Rap, Disco, Rock, and Spoken Word; there is definitely a song to appeal to everyone.  And let’s not forget the lyrically content (wordsmith), and vocal abilities (ninja), that @BSlade™ always delivers with; there is a reason why he has been nominated and won several awards.  I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed, or I’ll give you your money back.****

  • A Brilliant Catastrophe THE MOVIE : part 1

You may not know who this guy is, but a ten page feature article in the Feb. 2010 issue of the New Yorker sure knew how to describe him; “His eccentric style and vertiginous high notes helped make him one of the most acclaimed praise singers of the past decade, and, for a time, one of the most successful. He had a certain hip-hop swagger and the status of a sex symbol.”
    -The New Yorker

THE NEW YORKER article documented the first chapter of this controversial former gospel superstars exit & entry into mainstream. To accompany it is a project that took over a year to make & a film that documented his journey every step of the way: A BRILLIANT CATASTROPHE—- the movie

Already referred to as an Avant-Garde film allowing fans and critics alike a look into the complexity and sometimes novelty of recording activist/ songwriter/ actor @BSLADE formerly known as Gospel Artist Tonex™. The film documents his life after transitioning from Gospel Music Superstar to gospel music’s fallen star turn Acid Rock Funk Captain @BSLADE. A quirky yet provocative film of which tells the story of a sometimes self-destructive ever changing mad scientist of a rock star who struggles to cope with the constant pressures of his career and the demands of his time, money and recovery following the tragic loss of both of his parents who were pastors. After retiring from being the heir to their 15 year long legacy & empire to follow his heart’s path down uncharted territory, @BSLADE created what has been heralded by even his worst critics as his best work: the double disc ” A BRILLIANT CATASTROPHE” was chronicled in a musical opus that has the twitter community buzzing including Ledesi, Lalah Hathaway, & Frankie Knuckles just to name a few. After seeing this film Hollywood insiders have asked “Is it okay to like a film but not really understand it?”

The answer is yes, of course. And “A BRILLIANT CATASTROPHE” is a movie you will have to see at least twice & an album that has become THE staple soundtrack to the the Fall of 2010. The projects crux is contradiction, parallel paradox and religious cynicism and not easy to navigate under the best of circumstances. But this much is clear: “ABC,” which evolves at one point into three simultaneous films, is gorgeous, bizarre, and mesmerizing. Does it make sense? Hard to say. Is it fascinating to watch? Definitely. You will leave your computer totally captivate and throttled by it.
